Apply for Queer Run’s Inaugural Run Out Loud Grant Application Today
posted on October 5th, 2026
Running should be a sport where everyone can show up as themselves, build community, and chase their goals.
But queer, trans, and nonbinary runners don’t always get that experience. We still enter running spaces where we don’t feel represented, welcomed, or fully safe being ourselves, especially at a time when transgender and nonbinary people, in particular, face growing hostility and efforts to exclude them from public life and sport. Creating opportunities for queer and trans runners to participate, compete, and take up space matters.
Running can also be expensive. The costs of race registration, travel, gear, coaching, and training can prevent runners from getting to starting lines.
The Run Out Loud Grant provides financial support to LGBTQIA+ runners pursuing a race. Whether you're preparing for your first race, taking on a new distance, chasing a personal best, or pursuing another goal that matters to you, we want to help make getting there a little more accessible.
This grant is one more way that Queer Run builds a running community where queer and trans runners feel safe, welcomed and celebrated from pavement, to trail, to starting lines.
LGBTQIA+ runners of all identities, backgrounds, paces and experience levels are welcome to apply.
Application Deadline: 10/18/26 at 11:59 p.m. ET
Recipients Announced: December 2026
Applicants should have a specific race they plan to run within the 2027 calendar year and a general plan for how grant funding would help them pursue that goal. The race can be any running distance or discipline, and applicants do not need to be registered at the time they apply.
You do not need to demonstrate athletic achievement or meet a qualifying standard to receive a grant. Applications will be considered based on financial need, the role funding would play in helping you pursue your goal, and overall alignment with Queer Run's mission and values.
If writing is a barrier to you, please email contact@queerrun.net for alternative instructions for completing an application.
